The straight answers
Which plan do I need? Free is for looking and occasional sharing. Advanced is for sharing every day: more room, password protected models, bulk upload, DXF export, and isolating and exporting individual parts. Pro adds model editing in the browser, assemblies with mates, website embeds, and full access for your own AI, including modeling time. Pro Plus and Pro Max are Pro with more of everything, embeds with no watermark, and far more modeling time for your AI.
What if I need more of something? Move to a higher plan. There are no add-ons to buy: whatever you need more of, storage, links or modeling time, the next plan up has more of all of it.
Does STEPFILE.com include an AI? No. You bring your own: Claude, ChatGPT or another AI assistant you already use connects to your account with your permission and works on your models. Your AI subscription stays with that company; STEPFILE.com does not charge for it or resell it.
How is AI use charged? Only by modeling time: the time our modeling engine actually spends measuring, picturing or building a model for your AI, counted by the second with a one second minimum. Everything else your AI does, like finding, opening, organizing or sharing models, is never counted. Modeling minutes reset each month on your billing date.
Is viewing shared models free? Always. Anyone you share with views free, sees the latest revision, can read the attached drawings and documents, and can join the discussion. Only the owner’s plan matters.
Can I switch plans? Yes, from the Billing tab of your account. Moving up starts right away and is charged for the rest of the month, so everything keeps renewing together. Moving down takes effect on your next billing date; you keep the plan you paid for until then. You cannot move down below what you are using; delete files or turn off links first, since we will never choose what to remove for you.
What happens if I cancel or my payment fails? If you cancel, your plan runs to the end of the month you already paid for. If a renewal payment fails, the account moves to Free right away and we email you. Update your card on the Billing tab and the bill is paid on the spot and your plan comes straight back. Nothing is deleted for 30 days after a move to Free: fix the card or resubscribe inside that window and everything is still there. After 30 days, stored content above the Free limits may be permanently removed.
How do referrals work? When someone creates an account from your link, you earn free storage: 100 MB on a paid plan, 50 MB on Free. A Free account’s storage tops out at 2 GB in all.
Where do I buy, and where are my invoices? On the Billing tab of your account. It shows your plan and every invoice, which opens right on the page and downloads as a PDF.
