First of all, we hope you’re loving the STEPFILE.com site! We created this web app initially just for the use of the Texas Metal Works staff so we could share models and documents internally between our design and fabrication teams. Then we realized it was too good to keep all to ourselves, so we decided to make it freely available to the world!
Know someone who works with CAD files? Share a model, or send your referral link. When they create a free account (and get free storage), you get extra storage added to yours, automatically.

How it works
When you SHARE a model with someone, and you’re logged into your account, the system knows you shared that file. The system also knows if the recipient created an account from that shared file! And when someone signs up through your link, your storage grows by the current per-referral bonus, up to the posted cap. The bonus you earn is yours for good! Even though eventually we’ll do away with the referral bonus altogether.
For the new site launch, we’re granting 25MB of additional free storage per referral up to a maximum of 500MB. So, refer 20 new users and you get the equivalent of a laptop’s worth of storage in the deep underbelly of the Internet.
