Your Account: Upload Models

The Your models card on your account page has an upload zone at the top. Use it to put files into your saved models without opening the viewer first. Every file goes through the same checks as an upload from the viewer: file type, size and storage.

Step by Step: Upload Files

  1. Open your account page. The upload zone is at the top of Your models.
  2. Under Put uploads in, pick where the files should go: No folder, one of your folders, or New folder....
  3. If you picked New folder..., type a name in the New folder name box that appears.
  4. Click Upload a model (on a Free account) or Upload models (on a paid plan). You can also drag files onto the dashed zone.
  5. Watch the line under the zone. It reads, for example, Uploading 2 of 5: bracket.step....
  6. When it ends, it says how many files went in and how many were skipped, then the page reloads and the new models show in your list.

Options

ControlWhat it does
Upload a model / Upload modelsOpens your computer's file picker. A paid plan can pick several files at once.
Drag and dropDrop files on the dashed zone. The zone turns green while a file is over it.
Put uploads inThe folder every file in this batch goes to. No folder leaves them at the top level.
New folder...Makes a new folder first, then uploads into it. Type its name in New folder name.

What the Zone Accepts

The file picker lists these endings: .step, .stp, .iges, .igs, .stl, .obj, .3mf, .gltf, .glb and .dxf. A model is named after its file, without the ending.

Limits

  • Free accounts upload one file at a time. If you drop several, only the first goes and the line says Multi-file uploads require a paid subscription; uploading the first only. An Upgrade link shows in the hint.
  • Paid plans can select several files and upload them in bulk.
  • The hint under the button gives your plan's size limit, for example Up to 95 MB each.
  • Your storage limit applies too. See Plans and Billing.

Tips

  • Make the folder first when you have a whole job to load. Pick New folder..., name it, and drop every file at once.
  • Files that fail do not stop the rest. The summary lists each one that was skipped and why.
  • To move models afterward, tick them in the list and use Move. See Your Account: Models and Folders.

If Something Goes Wrong

  • "Type a name for the new folder first": you picked New folder... and left the name empty.
  • "Could not create the folder": the folder name was refused. Try another name.
  • "bracket.step is 120.0 MB, over your 95 MB limit": the file is larger than your plan allows. The message names the file and your limit.
  • "Upload failed" or a message after a file name: the file was refused. The type may not be supported, or your storage may be full.
  • The page did not reload. Nothing was uploaded. Read the line under the zone for the reason.
