Kept Measurements

Every finished measurement stays on the model by itself, so you can take the next one without losing it. This page is about managing them, including Clear All on the Measure tab.

The Pill

Each kept measurement has a small numbered pill near its number, with these buttons:

  • Hide (then Show): takes the lines and the number off the screen. The measurement shrinks to a small numbered green dot so you can bring it back. Click the dot to show it again.
  • Move (the four-arrow handle): press and drag to slide the dimension to a better spot. The measured value does not change.
  • Edit: only appears while you are sketching, on a number that belongs to a sketch dimension or a sketch gap. It opens the size box so you can type a new value. Double-clicking the number does the same.
  • Delete: removes that measurement for good.

Press and Hold

Press and hold the pill or the number and the measured items light up again, along with the picked faces. They go back to normal when you let go. The faces light up this way only for measurements taken in the current session.

The Measure Tab Buttons

  • Hide All hides or shows every measurement at once. Notes are not touched. If you have none, it says "No measurements kept yet. Measure something first." The View tab's Marks and the eye on the strip handle notes and measurements together. See Marks.
  • Clear All deletes every kept measurement. It asks for no confirmation, so use it when you mean it. It leaves your notes alone. The same action is Clear All on the Measure tab.

Step by Step: Tidy Up After Measuring

  1. Click Hide All on the Measure tab to see the model clean.
  2. Click Hide All again to bring the measurements back.
  3. Delete a single measurement with Delete on its pill.
  4. Click Clear All to start over.

Saving and Sharing

  • Kept measurements are saved with the model when it is saved to your account, including whether each is hidden.
  • They travel on a share. A recipient sees them. Whether the recipient can take new ones depends on the Measuring tools box ticked on the share.

Tips and Common Problems

  • A measurement is hiding behind the model. Drag its move handle, or turn the model.
  • The number covers the part. Drag it by the move handle. Dragging the number itself does not move it.
  • A measurement I deleted came back. It did not: a new one was taken. Delete removes it for good.
