Clearance Verification
Finds pairs of parts that sit closer than a gap you choose. Assemblies need the Pro plan.
When to Use It
- Check a minimum gap, for example 1/16 in, between moving parts
- Find parts that are almost touching
- Save a list of tight spots
Step by Step
- Open the assembly.
- Click Clearance on the Assembly tab (Evaluate group). The window opens.
- Choose the components in the list as in Interference Detection (all ticked to begin).
- Type the Minimum acceptable clearance. It starts at 2 mm in the model's units. Fractions such as 1/16 are accepted.
- Click Calculate. The results pair the parts that sit closer than the minimum.
- Click a result to see the pair in the view.
- Click Save results for a CSV file.
- Close the window with the X or Esc.
Options
- Ignore clearances equal to the minimum: leaves out pairs that are exactly at the gap.
- Include hidden components: also checks parts you have hidden (off to begin).
Tips and What to Expect
- Parts that overlap are an interference, not a clearance; use Interference Detection for those.
- Results are not saved with the assembly.
- For a live check while you drag a part, use Dynamic Clearance in Move Component.
Common Problems
- "Press Calculate." Nothing has been run yet.
- A result list that looks wrong after an edit. Press Calculate again; the list is for the last run.
