Edit Menu
The Edit button on the Sketch tab opens a panel of undo, delete and clear commands, the list of every relation and dimension in the sketch, two relation settings, and a door to Equations.
When to Use It
- Take back or redo a change
- Delete the selection, the newest piece, or the whole sketch
- See what relations and dimensions hold the sketch, and delete one
- Turn automatic relations on or off
Step by Step
- Open a sketch.
- Click Edit on the Sketch tab. The Edit panel opens under the button.
- Click a command (below). The panel stays open so you can click again.
- Close it with the X or Esc.
The Buttons
- Undo and Redo: step back and forward through every change, not only the newest piece. Inside a sketch they take back moves, sizes, relations and drawn pieces; outside one they take back whole features. The same as Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y (Ctrl+Shift+Z also redoes). A message says "Nothing to undo" or "Nothing to redo" at the ends.
- Undo entity: removes the newest drawn piece only. It says "Nothing sketched yet" when the sketch is empty.
- Delete selected: removes the pieces chosen with Select. Same as the Delete key (see Select).
- Clear sketch: removes every piece. It can be undone with Undo.
Relations
- Add relations while drawing: ticked, snapping a line's end to another end, a midpoint or the origin ties it there, and a line drawn near level or upright is made so. Untick it to add every relation by hand.
- Show relation markers on the sketch: the small green squares beside pieces that carry a relation. Untick them if they clutter a busy sketch.
- The list: every relation and dimension in the sketch, sorted by name. A dimension shows its size and, when a formula drives it, its name and formula. Click a row to select the pieces it ties, or to change a dimension. A row turns red when its pieces cannot satisfy it.
- x beside a row: deletes the relation or dimension (or unfixes a Fix). If an equation reads a dimension, nothing is deleted and a message names the equations. Undo puts a deleted row back.
Equations
Equations... opens the Equations window, where every dimension has a name and can follow a formula of the others. See Equations and the Equations Walkthrough.
Tips
- Clear sketch is one Undo, so it is safe to try.
- The list is the quickest way to find an over defined relation: look for the red row.
