File, Close
File, Close closes the model you are looking at and returns to the start screen.
What It Does
It clears the model, its measurements and notes from the screen, and forgets which model was open, so a page refresh starts empty. It does not delete anything: a model saved to your account stays in your account. Open it again from File, Open or File, Recent.
Step by Step
- Click File, then Close.
- If you have unsaved modeling changes, the viewer says it will discard them and asks you to confirm. Choose Cancel to stay and save first.
- In an assembly, Close asks first too.
Tips and Common Problems
- It says "Exit Edit Part first". Leave Edit Part before you close.
- I use tabs. Close tab closes only the current tab and asks Save, Don't save or Cancel. See Tabs: Several Files at Once.
- Edits you made are kept when the model is saved to your account; autosave stores them about every 2.5 seconds.
