File, Upload a New Version

File, Versions, Upload a new version replaces a saved model's geometry with a new file and keeps the old one as an older version you can go back to.

Step by Step

  1. Open one of your saved models. A version belongs to a saved model, so a model that is not saved yet cannot have one.
  2. Click File, point to Versions (or click it), then click Upload a new version.
  3. The Model name is shown and cannot be changed.
  4. In Version, type a label. When the current label is a plain number, the next number is filled in for you. Any label works, such as 2, rev-B or 2.67.0.1a, and you can even upload an older revision.
  5. Click New model file and pick the file. It takes STEP, STP, IGES, IGS, STL, OBJ, 3MF, glTF, GLB and DXF.
  6. Click Save. The viewer says Saved as version and the label, then reloads the model from the new file.

The old geometry and its markup are archived, and they stay in the Versions list.

Tips and Common Problems

  • "Open one of your saved models first". Save the model, then try again.
  • "Switch back to the current version first". You cannot add a version while an older one is on screen.
  • "Give this version a number or label". The Version box cannot be empty.
  • Embeds that keep themselves up to date follow the new version after you upload it.
  • How many versions are kept depends on your plan. When the history is full, the oldest kept version is dropped.
