Used Parts

Lists every saved model your assembly depends on, once each, with its version, its state and how many times it's placed. Use it to see what an assembly is made of, and to spot a part whose saved model was deleted. This needs the Pro plan.

When to Use It

  • Check which saved models an assembly uses before you delete one
  • Find parts that have become frozen copies or gone missing
  • Jump to the model behind a part

Step by Step

  1. Open the assembly.
  2. Click the Assembly tab, then Used Parts (Evaluate group). You can also right-click the assembly row in the Model tree and choose Used Parts...
  3. The Used Parts window opens with a table. The bottom line says how many saved models are used, for example "5 saved models used."
  4. Click a model name to open that model. Ctrl-click, Shift-click or Command-click opens it in a new browser tab instead.
  5. Close the window with the X or Esc.

The Columns

ColumnWhat it shows
MODELThe model's name. It's a link when the model is in your account.
PART NUMBERThe model's Part Number property. If that is empty, the model's name.
VERSIONThe version in use, for example v3.
STATEIn your account, Frozen copy (the saved model was deleted) or Missing (the saved model was deleted).
QTYHow many times the model is placed.

Models are listed in the order they first appear in the assembly. Parts inside subassemblies are listed too. Rows for frozen or missing models are shaded.

Tips

  • This is different from the Bill of Materials, which is a parts list with item numbers and a spreadsheet export. Used Parts is about where the models live.
  • A frozen copy still works. The assembly keeps its own copy of the geometry.
  • On a shared assembly the names are not links.

If Something Goes Wrong

  • "Open an assembly first." No assembly is open.
  • "Assemblies are on the Pro plan."
  • "No saved models are used yet." The assembly is empty.
  • "Could not read the parts of this assembly just now. Try again in a moment."
  • "Could not open that window. Reload the page and try again."
