Your Account: Connected Apps
The Connected Apps tab on your account page lists everything that can work with your account for you: computers running the desktop add-in, and AI assistants. Use it to connect an AI assistant, see what it did, and disconnect anything you no longer use or do not recognize.
Step by Step: Connect an AI Assistant
- Open your account page and click the Connected Apps tab.
- Under AI assistants, find the connector address in the box. Click Copy. The button reads Copied for a moment.
- In your AI app, add a custom connector with that address. Connect Your AI to StepFile.com has the steps for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok and Copilot.
- Sign in here when the app asks. A page opens asking whether to connect the app to your account.
- Choose what it may do and click Allow. See Connecting an AI Assistant for each box on that page.
- Come back to Connected Apps. The app is listed.
Your plan sets how many AI connections you can have at once: one on Free, Advanced, Pro and Pro Plus, and two on Pro Max. At your limit, allowing a new one signs out the one used longest ago, and the Allow page names it first. See Connecting an AI Assistant.
What the AI List Shows
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| App | The name of the AI app, a badge saying how sure we are who it is, and a short line of what you let it do |
| Connected | The day you allowed it |
| Last used | How long ago it last asked for something |
| Requests | How many requests it has made |
The line under the name reads like can read your models, organize them, use the Recycle Bin and share and manage groups, depending on the boxes you ticked.
The badge on the name is one of:
- Verified: the request came from the AI company's published addresses.
- Registered: the app proved its domain when it connected.
- Claimed: only the app's own word.
- Unknown: we could not tell.
Hold the pointer over a badge to read it.
Below the List
- Modeling time this cycle: how much modeling time your AI has used and how much your plan includes, with the date it resets. It shows All used. at the limit.
- What your AI did on this account, by calendar month: the number of actions and downloads for the last three months. This is a record only. It never counts against your plan.
- Recent changes by AI assistants: the last 20 things it did, each with the app name and how long ago. A request it was not allowed to do is marked refused.
Client ID and Secret for Apps That Ask for One
Some AI apps, Gemini for one, show Client ID and Client secret boxes instead of connecting by themselves. Under AI assistants, open Client ID and secret for AI apps that ask for one.
- Type the app's name, for example Gemini.
- Paste the redirect address the app shows you (in Gemini it is next to Copy redirect URI). Put one address on each line.
- Click Make client ID and secret.
- Copy both boxes into the app now. The secret is shown only once and we keep only a scrambled copy, so a lost secret means making a new pair.
- Connect in the app as usual. You still click Allow on our page.
You can have five pairs. Delete next to a pair removes it and disconnects every app connection made with it. Your AI can do the same with list_own_oauth_clients, create_own_oauth_client and delete_own_oauth_client. Keep the secret private, like a password.
Computers
If you use the desktop add-in, a table above the AI section lists each connected computer with Computer, Connected, Last used and Uploads. A connected computer can upload new models and new versions, create folders and share a saved model, nothing else. See The Desktop Add-In.
Step by Step: Disconnect
- Open the Connected Apps tab.
- Find the app or computer in its table.
- Click Disconnect.
- Confirm. For an AI app the box asks Disconnect this AI app? It will need to be connected again. For a computer it asks Disconnect this computer? The add-in there will need to connect again.
To change what a connected AI app may do, disconnect it and connect it again. The Allow page lets you pick again.
Tips
- Disconnect anything you do not recognize. A disconnected app can no longer reach your account.
- The AI list shows only apps you allowed. Models you share with other people are separate. See Sharing a Model.
- What each tool can do is on AI Read Tools, AI Write Tools, AI Assembly Tools, AI Measure and Picture Tools, AI Part Modeling Tools, AI Recycle Bin Tools and AI Sharing Tools.
If Something Goes Wrong
- "No AI assistants are connected yet." Nothing is connected. Follow the steps above.
- The app is not in the list. The Allow page was cancelled, or the sign in did not finish. Add the connector again.
- My AI app was working and now asks me to connect again. Another app was allowed after it and your plan allows only that many connections, so the one used longest ago was signed out. Connect it again, or disconnect an app you no longer use first, so you choose which one goes.
- My AI cannot do something. The permission was not ticked when you connected it. Disconnect and connect again.
