Model Tree: Solid Bodies

Solid Bodies in the Model panel lists every body of the part. A body is one solid piece. Use the list to hide pieces, look at one alone, give a piece its own material, rename it or delete it.

Step by Step: Hide and Show a Body

  1. Open the Model panel, then open Solid Bodies with its arrow. The number beside it is how many bodies there are.
  2. Click the eye at the right of a body to hide it. Click again to show it. A hidden body's name is dimmed.
  3. Right-click Solid Bodies and choose Show All to bring every body back. It is grayed when nothing is hidden.

Hiding and showing are free on every plan.

The Body Menu

Right-click a body for:

ItemWhat it does
Hide / ShowThe same as the eye.
Show Only ThisHides every other body. It needs the Advanced plan or higher. On a lower plan it stays in the menu, grayed, and a click says "Isolate a part on the Advanced plan or higher."
Material...Gives this body its own material. See Model Tree: Material.
Rename (F2)Renames the body. See Model Tree: Rename.
Delete (Del)Removes the body from the part (Pro).

Step by Step: Delete a Body

  1. Right-click the body and choose Delete, or select it and press Del.
  2. A box asks "Delete (body name)?" and explains that the body becomes a step in the Model tree, so Undo brings it back.
  3. Click Delete to confirm, or Cancel.

What You See on a Row

  • A note beside the name shows the body's material once you have picked one, such as "Aluminum 6061". A material read from the file shows "(from the file)".
  • A body made of several pieces shows a count after its name, such as "×3".

Tips

  • A body's name is the name saved files carry, and its material follows the new name when you rename it.
  • Which bodies are hidden is saved with your saved model.
  • Rename and Delete only work on bodies of the model you are editing. Otherwise a message says "That body is not part of the model being edited."

If Something Goes Wrong

  • "Isolate a part on the Advanced plan or higher." Show Only This needs a higher plan.
  • "An older version is showing. Go back to the current one to change a step." Rename and Delete need the newest version.
  • "Changing steps needs a paid account." Rename and Delete are Pro features.
