Model Panel
The Model panel is the list of your part: its bodies, the three planes, the origin and every step you have made, in the order you made them. It docks on the right side of the viewer. Use it to see how the part was built and to change it.
Step by Step
- Click Model on the right rail. The panel opens beside the model.
- Click a row to select it. The matching part of the model lights up.
- Click the small arrow at the left of a row to open or close it. A step opens to show its sketch, and Solid Bodies opens to show each body.
- Right-click a row for its menu, or double-click a step to edit it.
- Click Model again to close the panel.
What Is in the Panel
From the top down:
| Row | What it is |
|---|---|
| The part | The part's name. File, Save as gives it a new name. |
| Version | A drop-down that shows only when the model has more than one saved version. Pick an older one to look at it. |
| Solid Bodies | One row per body, each with an eye to hide or show it. See Model Tree: Solid Bodies. |
| Front Plane, Top Plane, Right Plane | The three planes through the origin. See Model Tree: Planes, Origin and Sketches. |
| Origin | The point everything is measured from. Pieces tied to it never move. |
| The steps | Every extrude, cut, round and so on, oldest first. |
| The blue bar | The rollback bar. See Model Tree: Suppress, Roll Back and Reorder. |
| Sketches not used yet | A sketch you drew but did not turn into a step. |
A short line of help sits at the bottom of the list.
Moving and Sizing the Panel
- The arrow at the top of the rail (Hide or show the side panel) closes the panel and brings back the last panel you had open.
- Drag the left edge of the panel to make it wider or narrower. The width is at least 260 pixels and at most 60 percent of the window. Your browser remembers the width.
- On a phone or tablet the panel is a sheet that slides up from the bottom. Drag the grab bar at its top to make it taller or shorter. Your browser remembers that too.
Keyboard
- Up and Down arrows move between rows.
- F2 renames the selected row. Del deletes it.
- Enter edits the selected step.
- The Menu key, or Shift+F10, opens the row's right-click menu.
- Enter keeps a new name or number and Esc cancels it.
Who Can Change What
Looking at the panel, hiding and showing bodies, and setting a body's material are free. Everything that changes a step (edit, suppress, roll back, move, rename, delete) is part of the Pro plan. On a lower plan those menu items show a Paid tag and stay grayed.
Tips
- Right-click any row and choose Help on that row's tool to jump to its page.
- A step with a warning shows a note beside its name, such as "kept as it was". Hover over the row to read it in full.
- Every change you make here goes on the Undo list. A message with an Undo button shows for eight seconds after a suppress, move or delete.
If Something Goes Wrong
- "An older version is showing. Go back to the current one to change a step." Pick the newest version in the Version drop-down.
- "Changing steps needs a paid account." Editing steps is a Pro feature.
- "One moment, still working." The part is still rebuilding. Wait a second and try again.
- "Finish the step edit first: Update step or Cancel at the top of the Model tree." A step edit is open. Close it first.
- "No steps yet. Right-click a plane and Sketch on This Plane, or pick a face on the Sketch tab; each cut or extrusion appears here." The part has no steps to show.
